Passing on the Keys

During this season, when I am not speaking, I have been spending a lot of time with my parents. I go where they live and during the night and early mornings I walk with the Lord, hearing His voice. I go to the river and sit and watch while people fish. I have my pen and paper in hand and listen to worship so I can keep my mind on Him. Through this time I am feeling God put more love into my heart; and I am very grateful for that. To war in this time and season we need more love . I learn so much from my parents, when I am with them. I watch their undying love for one another. Their sweet eyes that love each other so openly; the way they still hold hands and want the world to know this is my "sweetie", this is what "till death do us part" looks like (they have been happily married for 54 years). They encourage each other, they lift one another up. They pat each other on the back and say 'I love you' at least once an hour. I hear my mother adoring my father saying, 'you are so wonderful Popi'. They read the word to each other everyday! It is an outward sign of an inward feeling. Wow! What love I was brought up in. It is no wonder that I hear people tell me they can feel so much love from our family. Much like the river I watch flowing down across the rocks, our love can change hearts.

Look with me please at 1 Corinthians 4:15 "After all, though you should have ten thousand teachers in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers. For I became your Father in Christ Jesus through the glad tidings (the gospel)." Whether or not your mentor actually "begot" you when you were born again, you need to find someone with the heart of a father or mother who will help you grow up in Jesus.

This is how the "Keys to the Kingdom" get passed on. Matthew 16:19 (in the amplified version) says, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind ( declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven".

Mentors keep the flow going. A good mentor passes on the keys of the kingdom of God. They help you unlock the beauty and truth of heaven and life here on earth. They will show you (like a parent helps their child) how to walk in His peace that passes all understanding, and in His presence carrying His joy and love, as well as how to eliminate the things from your life that are not from God.

I think we often miss the greatest gifts that are put into our lives to guide us through the rough times. They are always right in front of us...family!
Today I am passing on an important key: love your parents, honor them, do not abandon them in their time of need. Cherish the time you have. Tell them what they have done for you. Kiss them. Tell them you love them. Let's build strong families.

From a loving heart,

Pastor Cindi

What blessed words...I shall read them over each day. I will post them in our home. You are right, nothing is more important than family...nothing is more important to me than family...that means all of you my precious cuz! I continue to carry you in my heart every day in a way I carry no other...you know that.
